Glenbervie was the first school to establish a partnership with Tahi Honey and begin the Beekeeping in Schools Initiative. Every year, 5 students are chosen to participate in the Beekeeping group. The season runs from Term 3 through to Term 1 the following year. Under Tahi’s supervision, students care for several hives on a fortnightly basis. They harvest the honey and put the honey into jars for sale through the school office. They develop their own honey labels as part of this process and also visit Tahi Honey House and wetlands. Recent initiatives also include the development of a GlenberBEE honey cookbook.
