he Glenbervie School Annual Fun Run, Walk and Mountain Bike Ride is held every year on the second Sunday of November. The 2010 event will be held on Sunday 14 November. This event is proudly sponsored by Huanui Orchards and MORE FM. The promotional signs are sponsored by Dudley & Denis and the event is held in the Glenbervie Forest, through the amazing support of Rayonier NZ.
While the event is a major fundraiser for the school, it has become much more than that. It is seen as an important event for the Whangarei community. It is always great to see the number of people who come back year after year and there are some who have participated since its inception in 1992.
There are a variety of courses available, depending on your fitness level and passion:
Mountain Bike Ride
10km Run 10km Walk
5km Run 5km Walk
2km Stroll
There are drink stations around the course.
All the courses go through the picturesque Glenbervie Forest. You can either stroll around and enjoy the peaceful surroundings or push yourself through the challenging 10km run.
Once everyone is back in (or at 11.30am) a Lucky Draw Prize Giving is held. Every entry goes into a draw to be in to win one of the many high quality Gift Baskets. These have been put together with the generosity of local businesses and individuals who have donated products.
There is also a Team Prize, so businesses are encouraged to enter as a team and have some fun.
